Reflection

Throughout my first semester in college, I have learned many resources that could be implemented in my upcoming college experience. At first like any other inexperienced college freshman, I had my doubts about whether or not I would be able to make it through this semester or college as a whole. I especially had my doubts on my writing abilities because I knew that I wasn’t really strong when it came to writing. Once I saw the course syllabus my anxiety levels started to increase more than usual. I knew that no matter how hard college would be I would still have to try my best. As time went by, my writing has improved with the help of the passages read in class. With reading I can also say that I’ve learned to focus more on analyzing passages. One of the passages that inspired me was “On Likability” by Lacy Johnson. She goes into how being likeable is overrated and how you should unapologetically be yourself.  One quote that I found resonated with would be “I’m not interested in letting go of my pain, but in transforming it into strength instead.” Even though times were hard in my life and school life, I still chose to push through and make sure that everything was done. I always made sure that I was doing my best at the end of the day. Overall with this first semester experience, I can truly say that I was able to manage my time and adjust to this “virtual college life”.
